40 days for Life London have just issued their presS release to mark the launch of the 2011 campaign, and this time they're calling all grandmas and grannies.
A London based pro-life group is recruiting knitting Grannies in order to provide positive alternatives to abortion. 40 days for life, a pro-life campaign encouraging prayer, fasting and peaceful vigil to end abortion, provides women in crisis pregnancies with baby clothes, counselling and support. Grannies will provide clothes and support to those in need.
Campaign Director Robert Colquhoun said, “I issue an open invitation for anyone who faces the possibility of a crisis pregnancy, whoever you are, whatever worries you have, come to us and we love you, we are here to listen and support you and we will help you.”
40 days for life, a focused pro-life campaign to end abortion, is now present in 243 cities in 9 countries around the world. Over 400,000 people have participated in local campaigns, more than 3,500 lives have been saved from abortion, 43 abortion workers have quit their jobs and 9 abortion clinics have closed as a result of previous 40 days for life campaigns since 2007. New European campaigns have started in 2011 in Cheltenham, Ireland, Spain and Georgia in Eastern Europe.
Dan Blackman, communications director for the campaign said, “The primary loving care of our campaign is for those in crisis pregnancies.” The group organises a peaceful, prayer and legal vigil outside the BPAS Bedford Square abortion clinic in Central London for 40 days straight starting March 9th. He adds further, “Our message to those who work in the abortion industry is: We love you! Nothing you can do or say will ever take away our love for you. For anyone who has had an abortion our message is: We love you! We are here to listen and support you. If there is anything we can do to help we are here for you. We don’t know what will happen during our 40 days for life campaign in London this Spring, but we’re very excited to find out!”
The London group started in September 2010. Last year, 6 lives were saved, over 1,000 people participated in the campaign, 10,000 people were reached with literature promoting positive alternatives to abortion, 50 positive news stories were generated and 10 Church communities offered tangible support for the campaign.

Sorry, but what has this got to do with knitting?
ReplyDeleteI think knitting grannies are very confusing and off the main massage hence dilutting it ... the basic rule of marketing and communication is to be consistent with the core massage (elevator pitch)
ReplyDeleteKeep going, but do clarify what you are asking of us grannies re knitting?
