Abortion advocates bare their souls

By Fr Dominic Allain - Pastor Iuventus column 5th October 2012

Reproduced with kind permission of the Catholic Herald

As I walk home across the park there is a carpet of brown dead leaves on the grass for the first time.  Our Indian summer is over and autumn and decay are in the air.   There is, as the book of Quoleth told us last week, a time for everything and there is no fighting this, not even after a pretty miserable summer.

I find it interesting that in an age which claims to have rediscovered the importance of being at one with nature, respecting the environment, learning to attune to its inner rhythms and celebrating our essential earthiness, there can be quite such a blind spot when it comes to the most primal life force of all.  I would bet a great deal of money that many of the “Pro-Choice” activists confronting the Forty Days for Life prayer vigil outside the British Pregnancy Advisory Service in Bedford Square last Tuesday would have strong views on defending the planet but can somehow square these with the destruction they wish to wreak in the womb.  It wouldn’t be surprising. It fits into the new morality, one of the mantras of which is the importance of choice.

It seems that choice is the only moral absolute.  The object of that choice or even regretting the choice you have made, as something like 75% of women who have had abortions tell us they do, are secondary to the all-conquering right to choose.  Since choice trumps ethics and since my choice and your choice may be for different outcomes, genuine “Pro-Choice” activists, you might think would follow the logic of their position and respect those who want to give women choices by proposing alternatives, but if Tuesday night was anything to go by, apparently the more “Pro-Choice” you are the more you have to silence and intimidate the opposition.  The mood of the people confronting Forty Days for Life was very ugly.  They were determined to drown out the prayer with shrieks and chanting, horns and whistles.  They threw eggs at us at one point, apparently. I am not being pious when I say I just didn’t notice.  They shouted some pretty vicious personal insults against por-lifers, against mothers, men, Catholics, priests . . . the kind of things that in another context would undoubtedly constitute hate crimes.  They hurled abuse at Our Lord and Our Lady and four-letter words at those keeping vigil.  None of this will be reported.  The media is only interested in painting the peaceful prayer vigil of Forty Days for Life as extremists and political activists. They responded only by continuing to pray the rosary and then the Stations of the Cross.  I thought of the story of Karol Wotyla when the Rhapsodic Theatre was meeting in Krakow to resist the destruction of Polish Culture.  He was reciting a speech from a Polish epic when the Gestapo filled the square outside with cars with loudspeakers on their roofs.  They broadcast news of fresh Nazi victories.  They entirely drowned out what he was saying, but he went on declaiming his epic.  That’s what the crowd outside the clinic did.  They kept on praying, so that when the furious screaming and insults stopped for a moment there was a calm presence beneath saying “And blessed is the fruit of they womb, Jesus.”

We should stop referring to such people as “Pro-Choice.” It is an Orwellian hijacking of language, for their choice does not extend to allowing someone to express the opinion that abortion is a mistaken choice.  If, as they screamed at us, pro-Lifers have no right to seek to impose that choice on others, by what right do they claim to uphold choice, let alone impose their own choice on their unborn children with fatal results to those most vulnerable members of society and deeply injurious consequences to women themselves?

“There’s a party in my uterus and you’re not invited.” they yelled gleefully.  Like the unseen demons in Blessed John Henry Newman’s “Dream of Gerontius,” there was coming up from somewhere deep beneath the gleeful bragging a deep desperation; this was not joy but despair which voiced this appalling thought.   “Some party,” I wanted to respond, “organized by surgeons, hideously invasive of a sacred space, traumatic and determined above all to see that your child is unwelcome there and must be fatally ejected.”  But I didn’t, partly because the tactics ofForty Days for Life, whatever you read in the Guardian, are entirely peaceful and non-confrontational, and because fools rush in where angels fear to tread.  These are men and women deeply traumatized  by abortion –their own or those they have complicity in, or those for whom they were made complicit by ties of love  - brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren they were never allowed to know.  The trauma goes on feeding off itself as they scream abuse and hatred to prove that they have not been damaged by abortion, that it’s no big deal, that it’s a consumer choice without consequences.  It is impossible not to feel sorry for them, despite the increasing ugliness and intolerance of their tactics.

For the kinds of things they were shouting are the desperate projections of their hatred of themselves, their anger with their choice and their grief. “Keep your Eucharist off my uterus,” “Keep your rosaries off my ovaries,” were their other favourite taunts.  These combine the prejudice of old-fashioned protestant No-Popery with something deeply pathetic.  It is in their own imaginative landscape that there lurks the terror of a strange and irrational connection between the Eucharist and their wombs or the rosary of the Mother of God and their reproductive organs.  At a level below the rational and conscious they know that something which ought to be beautiful and life-giving has become something which feels untouchable, cut off from the realm of the spiritual, from the sacred.  If they were alone and still for long enough the I think the cry would be “There is a wake in my uterus, a crying emptiness and I am protecting myself from its silence and its sorrow with anger and activism.”  That’s why the sisterhood must band together for this show of strength. That’s also why I think this Forty Days for Life campaign is so worthy of support.  It literally speaks the mystery of life in Mary’s womb and invokes the name of the child to whom she gave shelter and welcome so that He might bring the infinite power of His paschal love to where it is so desperately needed and so paradoxically feared.

Campaign update

40 days for life conducts a peaceful, prayerful and legal vigil in London. The central point of our vigil is to pray for an end to abortion and show that that is a love in community that can help a woman to choose life for her unborn child. Since our campaign started in September 2010, we estimate that more than 30 women have chosen life for their unborn children as a result of our campaign through prayer and also through an offer of love, help and support during a difficult time.

We have a statement of peace that sets the tone and ethos of our prayer vigil as a peaceful and prayerful event. Since our campaign started, we have received a very large number of insults and threats. At times, members of the vigil have filmed themselves in order to protect themselves from these threats. We do not encourage anybody to film members of the public during our campaign.

Since 40 days for life started in 2007, there have been 1,633 individual 40 days for life campaigns that have taken place in 422 cities worldwide. 5,045 lives have been spared from abortions during campaigns and 21 abortion facilities have shut down following local 40 Days for Life campaigns.

Record number attend all night vigil!

Around 100 people turned out for a prayer vigil for human life outside an abortion clinic as part of the 40 days for lifecampaign on Friday 4th November. Father Paschal Ryan, Episcopal Vicar for Westminster Diocese represented Bishop Alan Hopes during the candle lit vigil. The campaign has drawn the support of a number of Church leaders who have helped to inaugurate a new springtime for pro-life work in London. The attendees read an examination of conscience, prayed the Rosary, Stations of the Cross and a litany for life. The vigil continued all night and continued throughout the next day as part of the record breaking London campaign.

During the 40 days for life campaign in London this year, over 8 women who were scheduled for an abortion chose life for their babies, more than 1,000 people took part in the prayer vigil over a 40 day period and even biased media outlets promoted a positive pro-life message. A number of women were introduced to healing post abortion ministries and over 10 Church communities were welcoming in promoting a positive and upbeat pro-life message to their congregation. The campaign includes encouraging Christians to pray and fast for an end to abortion and conducting community outreach by taking a positive and upbeat pro-life message to the community.

The 40 days for life campaign was run this Autumn in 301 cities worldwide. 16 abortion clinics have gone out of business, 53 abortion workers have quit their jobs as a result of 40 days for life campaigns, more than 4,000 children have been spared from abortion and over 400,000 people have participated in campaigns making it the largest grassroots pro-life organization in the world.

The closing party for the campaign is on Friday 11th November, St Augustine’s Social Club, 55 Fulham Palace Road, Hammersmith at 730pm. All are welcome.

Day 36 - November 2

Intention:
We are the defenders of true freedom. May our witness unveil the deception of the "pro-choice" slogan.
Scripture:
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
--2 Corinthians 3:17
Reflection:
Norma McCorvey (the former Jane Roe of Roe v. Wade) used to work at an abortion mill named "A Choice for Women." She now realizes what a cruel irony that title was. She saw first hand, just as pregnancy resource center counselors see, that women don't get abortions because of freedom of choice, but rather because they feel they have no freedom and no choice. They feel trapped, abandoned, desperate and afraid, and have been led to believe that abortion is their only option.
As Frederica Mathewes-Green has written, no want wants an abortion like she wants a Porsche or an ice cream; rather, she wants it like an animal caught in a trap wants to gnaw off its own leg.
"Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." That doesn't mean that the Spirit allows us to do whatever we want or to decide for ourselves what's right and wrong.
Rather, it means that the Spirit gives us the freedom to do what is right, the power to choose what is good, when we see it before us and yet feel pulled in the opposite direction. Liberty means that we no longer have to feel doomed to do what we know is wrong.
We are the people of the Spirit of the Lord, and when we take action on behalf of life, especially by being present at abortion mills, we are acting on behalf of true freedom, and imparting to those who are in bondage the power to do what is right.
Prayer:
Come, Holy Spirit. You are the Spirit of freedom, the source of all that is good, the power to do what is right. Fill us, and fill those who are in bondage today, feeling doomed to do what is wrong. Set them free, and help us to hasten them on the road to freedom, where your grace overcomes every temptation. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Fr. Frank Pavone
National Director, Priests for Life and President, National Pro-life Religious Council

Pro-life article of day:
If we can abolish slavery we can end abortion.
Pro-life quote of day:
"If ... an obviously pregnant women sat in a bar smoking heavily and drinking profusely, the reaction would be one of disgust. If the same woman told friends that she wanted an abortion, the reaction would often be entirely supportive."
- Michael Coren

"The gene for Downs Syndrome was discovered by a man who thought it would help us to prepare for Downs babies and improve their lives. Instead, it's being used to commit a form of pre-birth genocide on some of the most innocent, loving and beautiful people on Earth."

- Michael Coren

Fact: 90% of babies prenatally diagnosed with Down sydnrome are aborted

DAY 35: Over 417 lives saved worldwide!

40 days for life London
Autumn 2011
Greetings!

More than 417 lives have been spared during this 40 days for life campaign have been spared worldwide, and these are just the ones that we know about! We have seen 5 saves during this campaign in London, including one reported on last Saturday and also one on Whitfield Street last Friday.

Doctors and Priests can save lives here and there during their work, maybe a few times in their lifetime, but we can save lives every day on the streets through preaceful, prayerful activism. How amazing is that!

The problem with most people's response to abortion.

life

Day 35 - November 1

Intention:
Pray for post-abortive women who cannot forgive themselves; may they understand that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Scripture:
Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sin is covered. Blessed is the one to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.
-- Romans 4:7-8
Reflection:
In the passage above, the Apostle Paul making a point about justification by faith, refers back to David's words in Psalm 32:1-2. In spite of the enormity of David's sin -- adultery with Bathsheba and his murder of her husband -- and the utter absence of any personal merit, David in his brokenness, understood the imputed righteousness of God. David's response was not continued guilt over his sins, but praise for his freedom from guilt, and God's power to live life differently.
Once your relationship with God has been restored, your guilt has served its purpose and should no longer be given place in your life. This is true regardless of the sin, including the sin of abortion. As a post-abortive woman, I too struggled with this issue until I realized that punishing and hating myself after receiving God's forgiveness was an insult to God.
It was as though I were minimizing Christ's work on the cross as insufficient to cover my sin. I was denying Him the opportunity to bring glory to His name for the healing and restoration He wanted to do in my life. I was giving victory to the enemy who having lost the battle for my soul, was bent on destroying my testimony as I accepted the continual guilt he heaped on my mind.
It is my joy to continually sing of God's grace rather than give the devil a foothold in my life. Don't waste God's mercy! Accept His forgiveness and forgive yourself as testimony of His amazing grace.
Prayer:
Our Most Gracious Heavenly Father, thank you for your amazing grace that saved a wretch like me. I come against the enemy of my soul who would have me feel cast down and dejected. Lord, keep your children from falling prey to the accusations of the father of lies. Turn our mourning into dancing and may we bring praise to you as we give testimony of Your healing and restoration in our lives. For by His grace we are saved, amen.

DAY 34: A new paradigm for life!

life
40 days for life London
Autumn 2011
Greetings!

As our campaign enters its final week, we have inspiring plans for huge developments for the future!

After two conferences this week, many volunteers are buoyant with enthusiasm and bursting to introduce a range of tangible and proven track record methods of building a culture of life! This will help to save even more lives in our community as our work continues to grow!
Day 34 - October 31

Intention:
May we come to know that divine life, in relationship, creates human life.
Scripture:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
--John 1:1-3
Reflection:
"In the beginning" was God. Always, before all times, there was God. This particular God -- the God of the Bible, the God of St. John's Gospel -- is different from all other gods. This God is alive and full of life. This God is not the picture of deadness and death, aloneness and isolation. This God is the picture of life, relationship, and unity. For within this God, within this one God, there are three divine persons who live, who love, and who work -- together. This is the glorious mystery of the Trinity. The Trinity means divine life. The Trinity means three, living Persons -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit -- who relate to each other. The Trinity means mutual love and service among three Persons.
The Word was always with God the Father. This Word was, is, and will be the Trinity's second person. The Word is also the Son of God or, as revealed in time, Jesus Christ. God the Father and God the Son live, love, and work for each other. As one, they create "all things" together: the Father creates all things, including all human life, through the Son.
So the Father, through the Son, creates all human lives. The little one swimming in his mother's womb, the infant smiling in his father's arms, the child crying in pain in a hospital bed, the energetic teen running another mile, the old man gasping for his last breath -- all were created, at their beginning, by the Father through the Son. No exceptions. Divine life creates human life.
Prayer:
O God, may we always be quick to call you Father. And when we call you father, let your Spirit remind us that we, and all people, from their beginning to their last day, are your children. We praise you, Father, that you sent your Son to reveal to the world that all people are His brothers and sisters, that all people are your children. Through Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
Rev. Paul Stallsworth
President, Lifewatch (United Methodist Church)

Pro-life quote of the day:
"Human beings inside the womb are smaller, less developed, and more dependent than human beings outside the womb. These are differences of degree, not differences of kind. We can all point to other people who are bigger, stronger, smarter, or less dependent than we are, but that doesn't make our life any less valuable, or any less deserving of protection."

DAY 32: Training and mobilizing a generation for life!

40 days for life London
Autumn 2011
Greetings!

Today we have a fascinating boot camp, training our volunteers of how to build a culture of life!

There is great momentum from our campaign to equip, inform, proclaim and invite a new generation for life - to live in a country where no more children die and no more women cry!

Please sign up for our vigil to finish our campaign strong!

Day 32 - October 29

Intention:
As we pray for the end of abortion, let us pray for the expansion of the pregnancy help center movement worldwide.
Scripture:
The dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it. She gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron, but her child was caught up to God and to his throne.
-- Revelation 12:4-5
Reflection:
You don't need to be a theological scholar to get the essential point of Revelation 12. Something BIG is afoot. It has something to do with the birth of Christ and the children of God.
It involves a war in heaven, with powers and principalities beyond our expertise. But the battles are fought here on earth.
The crux of the matter centers around the babe of Bethlehem and the cross of Calvary.
It continues to unfold down through the ages, through us, the children of God, who put their faith in Christ and take up their cross and follow him.
We are waging a war of love against all things that destroy body and soul.
The intensity waxes and wanes, but like labor pains, they grow and culmi-nate in new life.
The unleashing of legal abortion nearly 40 years ago stirred up prayer (lamentation really). Many were then led to start pregnancy help centers and maternity homes.
Today there are over 3,000 such ministries that did not exist 40 years ago.
They reflect a movement of God on our watch: Christians driven to give their time and charity to end abortion one woman at a time.
Let's pray this movement expands worldwide. Let's pray for thousands more Christians to start, serve and support pregnancy help centers.
Prayer:
O God, from generation to generation, you have called your people to be the very aroma of life amidst a culture of death. Now it is our turn. Prepare me. Send me. Use me. I am eager to do my part. Stir your people everywhere to take up this great work.

Pro-life quote:
The essential vice, the utmost evil, is pride.
Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness, and all that, are mere fleabites in comparison.
It was through pride that the devil became the devil.
Pride leads to every other vice.
It is the complete anti-God state of mind.
It is pride which has been the chief cause of misery in every nation and every family since the world began.

DAY 31: Building unity and alliances for life!

40 days for life London
Autumn 2011
Greetings!

Today saw an inspiring pro-life conference with some fantastic groups bringing some vital messages to the UK. We hear from Precious Life, Abort67, Centre for Bioethical ReformYouth Defence and many others! As Jill Stanek reports, this is a key sign of hope for change in the UK.

Listen to the youth pro-life conference 2 weeks ago here. See the mention on the 40 days blog here.

Day 31 - October 28

Intention:
For the medical community, that the truth they know about the human body may become awe and wonder at the God who made it.
Scripture:
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.
--Psalm 139:16
Reflection:
Human beings -- God's tapestries.
Psalm 139 is a psalm that reveals the enormity and otherness of God. His divine attributes are on display: omniscience (2-4), omnipresence (7-12), loving-kindness (17-18), justice (19-20), righteousness (23-24), and omnipotence. Yet, when it came to express this last attribute, what example did the psalmist use - God's creation of mountains, seas, or far-flung galaxies? No, he used none of these. To express the wonder of God's unparalleled creative power the writer mentions the fashioning of the human in the womb (14-16).
The Hebrew word used to express God's forming of us in the womb, raqam, is the same term for needlework or embroidery. In other words, we are a tapestry that displays God's artistic mastery. And, like the artist who knows his creation down to the last detail, God intimately knows us. This reality provokes the writer to awe and wonder. He proclaims, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
What is true for this psalmist is true for each human being. Each is fashioned by God and known by him and we can proclaim on behalf of each, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
Prayer:
Gracious God, help us to appreciate the wonder and beauty of Your creation. Help us proclaim on behalf of every one of our fellow human beings, "I am fearfully and wonderfully made." May the knowledge that we are intimately known by You shape our lives and actions. Amen.
Rev. J. Kirk van der Swaagh
Pastor, Conservative Congregational Christian Conference

Pro-Life Quote of the day:

"A child is not guilty of its father's sins, and even the child of a rapist deserves a life lying before her full of joyous possibility. Whether she is parented by her birth mother or released to a loving family through adoption, her fate needn't be determined by her tragic origin.

As pro-life citizens, we fight for the right to life of every unborn child, no matterthe circumstances in which he or she was conceived, and we are committed to the care of mothers as strongly as we are to their children. Women who have been raped or abused - just like all women in crisis pregnancies - deserve care and honesty, and that means not the deadly greed of an abortion clinic, but the kind of support only the pro-life community gives women and their children, through churches, crisis pregnancy centers, other non-profits and individuals. These women need special help to heal and make positive decisions for themselves and their babies. They do not need to be violated again by the abortionist's grisly tools. Killing is not healing."

40 days for life London

Day 30 - October 27

Intention:
That those tempted to abort may understand that their child is already present, and already a real person.
Scripture:
And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
-- Luke 1:41-44
Reflection:
Jesus not only loves unborn children -- He was one himself!
Think about this for a moment.
We often hear people speak of a pregnant mother by saying, "She's expecting a child." Now if one is expecting a package, the package is not yet there. As reflected in our verse for today, however, this is not the case with the mother. Her gift is already there. The pregnant woman, a mother already, does not have a child "on the way," but has a child, already present and in full possession of his or her human rights, starting with the right to life.
Prayer:
Jesus, open my eyes to your presence in the life of every child. Open my heart to joy in the birth of every child, a birth that reflects the joy of your own birth in Bethlehem. As you shared life in the womb of Mary, so now send your protection upon every child still in the womb, and grant to their mothers the strength and joy that comes from welcoming the gift of life. We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Fr. Frank Pavone
National Director, Priests for Life

Pro-life quote of the day:
Research indicates that 98% of all abortions are related to issues of "personal choice."

The primary reasons women give for having an abortion include not feeling emotionally capable (32%)

or financially capable (25%) of raising a child, and

concern that having a child would drastically alter her life (16%).

A 2000-2001 study by the Guttmacher Institute also found that about half of women having abortions had been using contraception during the month they became pregnant; 16.9% of women claimed their contraceptives failed despite proper use.

Day 29 - October 26

Intention:
Praise God for His compassion in pardoning our sins and forgiving our transgressions. Give praise that He delights in showing mercy.
Scripture:
Who is a God like You, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgressions of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in mercy. He will again have compassion on us; and will subdue our iniquities.
-- Micah 7:18-19
Reflection:
Micah had been sent to declare God's judgment and call the people of Judah to repentance. The people had become spiritually and ethically corrupt. Prosperity had hardened the rich, the poor were oppressed and the heirs to David's throne were practicing abominations and idolatry. Is it not easy to see the parallels of God's people in Micah's day and God's people today in America?
Through Micah, God corrected His people by demanding justice, not burnt offerings and sacrifice. He told them to love mercy, and to walk humbly with their God.
In speaking of Old Testament stories of God's people turning from God to sin and idolatry, Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 10: 11, "Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come."
Many biblical scholars believe God has removed His hedge of protection around our nation in response to our sins of immorality and abortion. Let us cry out in repentance for His mercy once again. And may we honor His faithfulness by doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with our God.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, eternal, changeless, and faithful Lord, we recognize that we are in need of forgiveness as a nation, for turning our hearts away from you. Hear our prayer of repentance Lord and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We praise you for your tender mercies and your compassion that never fails.
Lord, it is only by Your grace that we can live lives that are just, and merciful. May Your Holy Spirit enable us to walk humbly in Your presence and may You be pleased to restore America so that a generation not yet born may praise you. In the name of Christ Jesus, who has done great things for us, amen.

Pro-life quote of the day:

After preaching at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Indialantic, Florida, I walked across the street to the beach and saw this sign. I had just told the people that pre-born babies have no protection against abortion through all nine months of pregnancy!! I now mention this sign in most of my pro-life homilies. Feel free to download and duplicate this photo, or call me for actual copies!

DAY 28: Praying for the conversion of abortionists!

40 days for life London
Autumn 2011

Greetings!

Today we pray for the conversion of abortionists during our campaign. We already have 1,000 prayer cards for this cause. An abortion clinic worker in Birmingham has made enquiries about another job during this campaign. Please pray that those who work in the industry may have a change of heart and mind.

Vigil Sign up times:
Tuesday: 4-8pm
Wednesday: 8-10am, 2-8pm

Please come to this conference.

Day 28 - October 25

Intention:
We pray for the conversion of abortionists and all abortion advocates.
Scripture:
"Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow."
-- Isaiah 1:16-17
Reflection:
God is just.
Inscribed around the inside of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington, DC, are the immortal words of Thomas Jefferson: "I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just." If the deist, Jefferson, knew in the depths of his being that God is just, how much more ought we Christians to reflect on this profound truth? The justice of God, like his holiness and his purity, encourages us to seek justice for all people. It is the evil deeds and wrong, selfish attitudes of our modern society that have led to the cavalier acceptance of abortion and euthanasia. But, as Jefferson also said, "his justice will not sleep forever."
God is calling us today to seek justice, to encourage the oppressed, and to defend the orphans and widows of our society. It is a noble calling! It is one which every true believer, every God-fearing man and woman, should heed with no hesitation and no reluctance. To follow the God of justice and truth is to stand unequivocally for the right to life of everyone, especially the unborn, the physically disabled, and the terminally ill. God's word through the prophet Isaiah is as relevant in today's 21st century world as it was in Isaiah's 8th century BC world. May God's grace help us to defend the unborn's right to life as well as that of the already born.
Prayer:
O God, our heavenly Father, give us courage and wisdom as we seek to eradicate the evil in our society. Help us to realize that your divine Spirit alone can change hearts and minds so that all your human creatures may enjoy the fullness of life you intended for them. I pray this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.

Pro life quote of the day:
"When the time comes, as it surely will, when we face that awesome moment, the final judgment, I've often thought, as Fulton Sheen wrote, that it is a terrible moment of loneliness. You have no advocates, you are there alone standing before God -- and a terror will rip your soul like nothing you can imagine. But I really think that those in the pro-life movement will not be alone. I think there'll be a chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world -- and they will plead for everyone who has been in this movement. They will say to God, 'Spare him, because he loved us!'"
